Lie to me, hide your ugly face
Too vile your naked truth
Conceal, resort to masquerade

~~~
If I should die
Leave before you do
What would you think
Of our time together
The things we did
Or wished we had
Done, but couldn’t do?
Why should I wonder
Ask this of you!
For, die I shall
Be it soon or late
And remember you will
Not just what you want
To hold on to, to arrest
Alas, even more, what you hope
To dismiss, to escape, to forget
So, let us live here and now like there is no tomorrow
Build sweet memories, leave no place for sorrow
For  Carry On Tuesday and Magpie Tales
 We wait alone
at the busy airport
the Shichifukujin –
Seven Gods of Good Fortune –
and I
XXX flight boarding now
please proceed to Gate no. YY
announcements galore
for passengers lucky
they can takeoff
on time
My flight is delayed
I must be patient
wait some more hours
to ride the air
outside
Even Agatha Christie
from Shankar’s, the
waiting-lounge bookshop
fails to engage
it lies neglected
on the chair beside mine
 Image prompt: Magpie Tales
The huge windowpanes
let in no air
and too much
of the world outside
And so, I wait
I and the Seven
suspended by a string
on my handbag
both ready
to take on the world
both eager
to take flight
No, don’t.
Don’t try to
tie me
into a knot.
I know both
what you said
and what you meant
what you intended
but did not say.
 I will not
fall for
blandishments
or false promises
your sinuous form makes.
 So, leave me alone
don’t waste
your time
and mine.
 No matter
how hard you try
no
I will not
do as you say.
If I had a hammer
I’d look for a chisel
Chip away life’s hollows
Let a new shape emerge, regain
If I had a hammer
I’d look for some nails
Mend the broken past
Try, put it together again
If I had a hammer
I’d look for a pair of tongs
Pick out what has meaning
Discard the remains
If I had a hammer
I’d look for you, knock
Some sense into that head
Keep you from going, restrain
But, I don’t have a hammer
And, guess what, it’s fine
The past is past, best left
Resting on the sands of time
For Saturday Centus
Close your eyes, have no fear
No cause for worry if the end be near
It matters not how long you live
Not what you get, but what you give
Don’t count your life in the number of years
By the laughter you shared, not the unshed tears
It’s a blessing to cross over safely to the final shore
If we stayed here forever, life would be such a bore
The impending close gives reason for zest
Make the most of your time before the final rest
To all the ‘beautiful’ boys and girls at Carry on Tuesday  🙂
Image prompt: Writer’s Island
poised on the threshold
of dreams that live within
and the lifeless universe
that smothers you outside
your spirit gently cries
to remain in this dreary world
thrust upon you by birth
and circumstance, to not be
where your imagination can take you
is painful, a raw ache that will not subside
will you merely peep from behind the curtain
at that which you have been denied?
or do you have the courage, the enterprise
to peel off the grey, to awaken and boldly step
into the colourful world that sleeps inside?
 Photo & prompt: Magpie Tales
I say autumn, You say fall
I say color, You say wan
I say orange, You say white
I say vibrant, You say drab
I say leaves, You say withered
I say hope, You say fear
I say change, You say end
I say shape, You say blot
I say exciting, You say flat
Alas, dear friend
You leave me with no choice
You say hello, I say goodbye
the stubborn sheen
in his fading eyes
a robust hint –
the lust for life
still kicking and
alive
 Inspired by Three Word Wednesday
With a smack, a thump, a thwack
When at last they hit the sack
A couple newly wed
Jumped into bed
And landed on a needle in a haystack
